Most removals here are sectional. On the house streets, native trees sit over roofs, fences and neighbours. Around the Concourse they sit over drives and tighter yards. We climb, rig and lower — we do not drop a tree through a backyard.
Tree Pruning
Bay wind loads the canopy on Beach Road and the cliff streets and leaves deadwood on that face. Further in the job is often clearance over roofs and neighbours, on trees that may also sit in VPO3. We prune for structure and a smaller sail. Roofs and neighbouring living spaces come first.
Stump Grinding
We grind the stump below ground so the patch can be turfed, planted or paved. On a house lot or a tighter street near the Concourse we check whether the grinder can reach a rear-yard stump or needs a longer carry from the street.
Hedge Trimming
Privacy screens on the native-garden streets need a regular, even cut. We trim for height, density and path clearance, then take the clippings.
Palm Tree Services

Most of Beaumaris is house lots with native gums, banksias and garden trees. VPO3 covers most of the suburb, so a native tree is often protected before size even comes into it. That is this suburb — not Mentone’s beach-and-station mix, and not a generic coastal page. Trees on those streets still need a plan for parking, carry and what sits under the canopy.
Ricketts Point and the Beaumaris cliffs
Ricketts Point and the cliffs sit on Beach Road. Mentone Beach starts at those cliffs and runs the other way — that foreshore is Mentone’s. Trees on the Beaumaris cliff streets take salt and wind, and the lots are tighter. That is a climb-and-rig job, not a drop.
The Black Rock–Mentone edge
Black Rock starts immediately north — same Bayside council, and where we are based. Mentone starts immediately south-east — Kingston, different Local Law, no suburb-wide VPO. Cheltenham sits inland. Some streets on that south-east edge sit on the municipal line; a Beaumaris address is still Bayside. We work all of them; this page is Beaumaris.

BEAUMARIS TREE PERMITS
Check what applies before you take a tree out or take a lot of canopy off
Beaumaris is Bayside City Council (postcode 3193). That is not Kingston. Mentone, next suburb south-east, is Kingston and a different Local Law. Black Rock, next suburb north, is the same Bayside council.
Three things can apply. VPO3 can catch native Australian vegetation. A statewide canopy rule (Clause 52.37, from 15 September 2025) can catch a large tree on the front or rear boundary. Bayside’s Local Law can also apply.
Native vegetation and large canopy trees
Most of Beaumaris sits in VPO3. A planning permit is usually needed to remove, destroy or lop native Australian vegetation that is more than 2 m tall with a trunk more than 50 cm around at 1 m up. On a house lot the statewide canopy rule usually means a large tree on the front or rear boundary: more than 5 m tall, trunk more than 50 cm around at 1.4 m up, canopy at least 4 m across.
Bayside Local Law
The usual size trigger is a single or combined trunk greater than 155 centimetres at 1 metre above ground. For a multi-trunk tree, add the four largest trunks. Leaf litter, views and shade are not a free pass.

2. Can you quote from photos?
Yes, in most cases. A first price usually needs photos of the whole tree, the trunk, what sits beside it, and the way in from the street. A large native tree, a tight side path, or a street near the Concourse that will not take a chipper may still need a visit.
3. Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Beaumaris?
It depends. Beaumaris is Bayside City Council and most of the suburb sits in VPO3, so a planning permit can apply to native Australian vegetation more than 2 m tall with a trunk more than 50 cm around at 1 m. The statewide canopy rule (Clause 52.37) can also apply to a large tree on the front or rear boundary. Bayside’s Local Law can cover a tree whose trunk is greater than 155 centimetres at 1 metre (single or combined; add the four largest trunks on a multi-trunk tree), a tree planted as a condition of an earlier permit, or a tree on the Significant Tree Register. If planning rules already protect the tree, that process applies instead of the Local Law. You check and get any permit before we start.
4. Is Beaumaris the same as Mentone or Black Rock?
No. Beaumaris sits between them. Black Rock is the next suburb north — same Bayside council, and where we are based. Mentone is the next suburb south-east — City of Kingston, different Local Law, no suburb-wide VPO. Some streets on the south-east edge sit on that Bayside–Kingston line; a Beaumaris address is still Bayside. We work in all three; send a photo and the suburb name so the quote is for the right address.
5. Who looks after street and nature-strip trees?
Bayside City Council owns street and nature-strip trees in Beaumaris. Residents must not prune or remove a street tree. If a street tree is a concern, call Bayside on (03) 9599 4444.
6. Can you work on the native-garden lots, the cliff streets and the Mentone-edge lots?
Yes. On the house streets the canopy is often native and sits over roofs, fences and neighbours. Around Ricketts Point and Beach Road the lots are tighter and the trees take salt off the bay. Toward Mentone and Cheltenham the streets are ordinary house lots; we still check which council the address is in. We plan those as climbing and rigging work, and we check whether the chipper or grinder can sit on the street or needs a longer carry.
7. Can you help with measurements and an arborist report?
Yes. We can measure height, trunk circumference and canopy spread on site, and arrange a written arborist report when Council wants supporting documents. We do not lodge the application, and we cannot promise an approval. The owner lodges and holds the permit.
8. How much does tree work cost in Beaumaris?
It depends on size, condition, how we get to the tree, what sits under it, and how much material comes out.
